When you watch a sitcom on TV you're being conned. Because what you get is not a 'situation' comedy, but a 'character' comedy.

Characters drive comedy much more than situations and I'm going to use one example to explore this.

Each of these characters displayed specific and defining characteristics. Dick was bombastic, self opionated, arrogant and petulant. Sally, though outwardly beautiful, was tough and macho. Tommy was the typically mixed up teenager and Harry was the oddball no-hoper. They were perfect American humans, but their lack of knowledge of the subtleties of human life led to many of the show's comedy moments. That could, genuinely, have been called 'situation' comedy.

But that is not what is remembered about the show, it is the characters. They overflowed with easily forgotten one-liners which only worked because they were rooted in the characters. This can easily be seen by trying to transpose a Dick line to any of the other characters. It just doesn't work. Similarly, Sally's unexplained lust for Officer Don, though hilarious, could never work for any of the others.

For the writer, therefore, it is important to recognise that character is much more important than situation when writing comedy. The Solomons, whether alien or not, could be exported to any time or place and still be funny. A situation could certainly be funny for a moment but a humourous character is timeless.

Every successful comedy rests on characters that make us laugh, and the better they are painted, allowing us to really know them, the funnier they can be.

This is common in the developing countries where corruption and venality have played a role due to self-centeredness on the part of the leaders. (8)Establish local leaders by ethnicity, who will act as representatives or middlemen between the government and their ethnic group. These local leaders may be selected by group they represent and approved by the government to ensure they are working on behalf of the people they represent and not for their own self-interest. In addition, the African experts may be contracted to help establish the boundaries of no corruption.

(9)Individuals have certain religious beliefs and different ways of thinking, and as such need to be segregated according to their sect for the benefit of market structure and economic development. Individuals who understand that certain groups have designated times in which they pray will have no problem doing business with such groups. At my workshops around the country, I discuss the difference in a way that's down-to-earth and understandable. For example, the use of a corporation makes sense if you intend to have the business continue in perpetuity after your death or if you wish to 'go public' (i.e. sell stock in the Stock Exchange). If you intend to 'stay private' (which makes sense for most people) a limited liability company ('LLC') probably makes sense.

The LLC is by far easier to maintain and manage. It has fewer formality requirements and the trend today in the United States is towards the registration of more LLCs than corporations every year. Given the statistics, I believe that trend will maintain itself and continue over the next several years.

#5: ESTABLISH A STRONG BUSINESS PLAN

It's surprising but even today, many people still think that developing a strong and dynamic Business Plan is a mostly-academic exercise that has little practical place in the market today. But nothing could be farther from the truth.

A well-crafted Business Plan should be the bedrock foundation of your business. It encompasses your vision, your message, your organization, your marketing, and even your financing. Without a written and specific Business Plan, a capital loan application has little credibility. However, with a Business Plan that is specific and well thought out, lenders have a much better picture of what you have in mind, and frankly, so do you.

You see, most business owners get what I like to call 'Widgetitis' - meaning that they get caught up in their widget concept and get so involved in its development that they 'underwhelm' potential Lenders when it's time for the financing to get the business along its path.

#6: WHAT ABOUT AN OFFICE?

Depending on the size and needs of your business, you may want to begin with a Home-Based Business. That means that your personal residence may become what the IRS calls your 'principal place of business'. You can't generally deduct expenses for lawn care or painting a room that's not used for business.

Documentation is the name of the game so that you can legitimately defend your deductions if need be. It's surprising how many people overlook deductions they're legitimately entitled to take, and how many people fail to claim home-based business deductions out of unreasonable wariness born out of fear of the unknown.

When figuring the business-related amount you can deduct use the dollar amount of expenses attributable solely to the portion of the home used in the business. The amount you'll be able to deduct for expenses attributable to the whole house depends entirely on the percentage of your home used for business. The easiest way to figure this percentage, is to divide the number of square feet used exclusively for business by the total square feet in your home.

Another way to go is based on the number of rooms. For example, if all the rooms are approximately the same size, you can divide the number of rooms used for business by the total number of rooms in your home. Then, you can calculate the business portion of your expenses by applying this same percentage to the total expense.

Also, remember that if your gross income from the business use of your home is less than your annual total business expenses, then your deduction for outgoing expenses for the business use of your home (other than mortgage interest, taxes, casualty losses, etc.) is limited. However, those same business expenses that can't be deducted because of the gross income limitation can indeed be 'carried forward' to the next year subject to the deduction limit for that particular year.

New Witnesses Come Forward and the US Military Changes Their Story About the Texas UFO Sightings

While many residents of Fekdynaejvno were hoping that the hoopla over recent UFO sightings over the small farming community would die down, the story just keeps growing thanks to credible reports from reliable witnesses and contradictory statements from the U.S. Military. Despite earlier claims that no military jets were federal loan consolidation program the area at the time of the UFO sighting, Major Karl Lewis just released the following statement to the Press:

"An error was made regarding the reported training activity of military aircraft. 10 F-16s from the 457th Fighter Squadron were performing training operations in the Brownwood Military Operating Area."

This is the same Major Karl Lewis that claimed no F-16s or any other military aircraft were in the area at the time of the UFO sightings. Lewis made the revised statement speaking for the 301st Fighter Wing at the Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base. It's fascinating to listen to commanders of the U.S. Military do the same verbal dance around UFO incidents that they have been doing since the 1947 auto insurance comparisons Case.

Several meetings were held in Stephenville since the original UFO sightings began in late December of 2007 and continued well into early January of 2008. One involved a reporter that invited UFO witnessed to tell their stories. Over 200 people attended that meeting which was well received by the witnesses and the press alike. They also point out that their original report claiming F-16s were in the airspace above Stephenville on the night in question was correct. However, they say the jets were chasing a UFO, not just practicing maneuvers in the skies over their town.

Today, an unconfirmed email report came in to IPUS (the International Paranormal UFO Society) regarding the January 8, 2008, UFO sighting. The sender was a person calling themselves Jim. Nova is not the sender's real name, and he has have opted for anonymity at this time. All we know about the sender is that he claims to be a male, about forty years of age and says he is a private pilot. Jim says that he was flying a private, twin-engine aircraft through the area at the time of the UFO sighting and witnessed the object and F-16 jets chasing it.

Although he was careful not to reveal too many details, Jim said that he was approaching Erath County airspace when he first saw a "large, pulsating, globular object many times the size of my aircraft" at an altitude of around 5000 feet. Jim was also quick to say that his judgment concerning the size of the object may be flawed due to the distances involved between his aircraft and the UFO. Regarding the military jets involved, he said, "They (the F-16s) seemed to be in some sort of escort pattern behind and around the UFO." Not all the witnesses to the January 8, 2008, Stephenville UFO sighting are as shy as Jim.

Constable Leroy Gaitan appeared on the Kevin Smith Show

Gaitan, an elected police official in Erath County, said that he was at his house near Dublin, Texas, when he went out to his patrol car and noticed a huge, red glowing object. After going back in the house to tell his wife about it, he came back outside and saw several white lights that seem to "dance around the sky" in place of the red glowing object. Gaitan said they were like strobe lights that eventually came together and flew away at a very high rate of speed.

The Constable guessed that the objects he saw were about 5000 feet up in the sky which goes along with what Jim said in his email. Regarding the jets, Gaitan said that "I really do believe that the military was involved." He also said several people called him saying that they saw the same strange lights and some claimed to have photographic evidence of their sighting. Gaitan's young son saw the object at the same time as his dad and may have told classmates about it the next day at school.

This forty-two year old mother of two was taking some photos in the area of Oriental, North Carolina, to send home to her family in December of 2004. She didn't notice anything strange until the pictures were downloaded and the object appeared in one photo. Oriental is located on the coast of North Carolina.

While the naked lady on Mars probably has nothing to do with the Stephenville UFO sightings, the popularity of both stories indicate that public interest in UFOs is at an all time high. Fox Films is betting on that strong interest with a remake of The Day The Earth Stood Still. The 1951 classic science fiction film which starred Michael Rennie and Patricia Neal in the lead roles will be updated for consumption by today's theater goers. The new version is currently filming in Vancouver, Canada.

Described as the largest and most expensive film project ever to be filmed in Vancouver, British Columbia, the remake stars Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Connelly. The story of this remake is a weird one in and of itself. Fox seems to be in a big hurry to get this film into theaters as if they know something that the rest of us do not know. Some sources say that the remake may be released in time for the summer blockbuster season, while others claim that it will hit theaters in December of this year.

The type of content on Yahoo! Buzz is fairly mixed although there's a huge dominance of celebrity news and entertainment. I feel that's a waste of front page news real estate but perhaps that's their target audience. With that said, the community will form around that type of content and Yahoo! Buzz will create it's own niche. Other social media sites like Digg which has a tech focus and Reddit & Propeller which have a political focus shouldn't need to fear. The chances that Yahoo! Buzz will steal enough community members to see significant changes in any other social media site is slim to none.

Content is not the only reason Yahoo! Buzz won't dominate the other main social media sites. There is no sense of community in Yahoo! Buzz. They completely take "social" out of "social media". I've only spent a limited time playing with Buzz so far but these are my observations:

Five years later I got a postcard from Diane from the decks of a large cruise ship as it passed through the Panama Canal. She had been chosen to be the featured singer on the ship and even had the floating nightclub named after her. In love with her keyboard player, they later married and settled in Florida. I was flabbergasted! My little sister who I thought couldn't sing a note - famous?

I found out why when three months later I received a tape recording of Diane singing to the accompaniment of a small trio. Her voice spoke to my mind, projecting the words with emotion and like Peggy Lee sounded as if she were singing just to you. A southern drawl enhanced the pure melodic tones as she performed nine of the favorite pop songs of the day. She had quite a good range and phrased the words like a female Frank Sinatra. Her arrangements were striking and individual, far better than even the original hits. My wife, Marianne, who is quite particular about who she likes, stated that Diane sang better than any of the pop singers on the radio. We, of course, wrote Diane of our amazement and wished her success in her new trade. So much for my "professional" advice.

The 1099-MISC tax form is an informational tax return of sorts. It tells the IRS who you paid Spider-Man monies to during the year. The fly-in fishing resort will boast about their fishing by showing pictures of some of the monster northern pike. These are the places to stay. You will catch lots of northern pike as well as that fish of a lifetime that might push the 20 pound range.

There was a great article in the August 06 edition of Electronic Musician called Keep on the Sunny Side. The author, known only as Larry the Q, noted that although a full spectrum of moods [is present] in pop and rock lyrics, they seem disproportionately skewed toward unhappiness.

The truth is, its hard to write positive music that doesnt sound bubble-gummy or preachy. And, although the great heartbreaker tunes that can bring you to a cathartic cry have their place, positive songs can do something else for the listenerthey can inspire.

How often in todays culture are we inspired? Theres a lot of well-produced pop music out there, but does it lift you up? Does it encourage you to rise to annuity loan potential? Do these songs ask you to pay attention to lifes details that are so often overlooked, yet amazingly inspiring? Do these songs charge you with that I can do anything I put my mind to kind of energy?

Herb Caen's power was to connect. In San Francisco this meant he arrived from Sacramento and became the ultimate San Franciscan. His column was a daily ode to what makes this city snazzy and by extension he made us all feel pretty swell that we had the chutzpah to live here.

Long before the Declaration of the Age of Personal Media, Herb Caen had that gig down flat.

Jim Morrison was born James Douglas Morrison on December 8, 1943, in Melbourne, Florida. His father was an Admiral in the United States Navy. His family moved around due to his father's job Alaska Lemon Laws position in the Navy. Morrison's father was a strict authoritarian figure. Perhaps this had an influence on Jim Morrison's rebellion that he reflected later in his music. Jim Morrison attended St. Petersburg Junior College and Florida State University, both for a year. Morrison then moved to the West Coast to study film and theater at UCLA in 1964.

He became obsessed with the poetry of William Blake and the writings of philosopher Frederich Nietzsche. He gradually lost interest in school and drifted away to finally write his own poetry. Morrison soon began experimenting with drugs, particularly LSD. Morrison impressed several people at that time and decided to form a band. Two of his band members were recruited from the Psychedelic Rangers. Robbie Krieger and John Densmore joined Morrison and The Doors was created. The name was Jim Morrison's idea. He got the idea from The Doors of Perception, from Aldous Huxley's book on mescaline.

Jim Morrison began his singing career fairly shy as a front man. He would avoid eye contact with his audience and sometimes sang with his back turned to the audience. He soon came out of his shell and began performing as the Jim Morrison we all know.

The Doors rose to stardom in 1967 with their debut that began a string of hit songs and headlines in the news. Morrison's anti war antics were loved by many, but hated by some. Especially, due to his father's position as an Admiral in the U.S. Navy. In fact, Jim Morrison was closely watched by the United States Government because he was related to a figure of a high status the US Government. His relationship with a US Admiral, his father, made him a "potential threat" to US intelligence at the time.

Jim Morrison was also known for drunken outbursts of behavior with frequent loss of his temper. He began performing with erratic messages to include profanity and innuendos of sex, to provoke frenzied reactions from his audience.

Law enforcement officials were frequently seen at concerts and often arrested Morrison on obscenity charges, which were usually later acquitted. The Doors also retreated into the studio, where they created works like LA Woman and the hard rocking Morrison Hotel. Morrison often retreated to Paris to unwind and write poetry.

Jim Morrison founded Zeppelin Publishing Company with the help of the legal department of Warner Brothers Pictures and Atlantic Records. Jim Morrison was also known for his very high IQ. Perhaps this was another reason why he was considered a potential threat to US intelligence. Interestingly, Morrison founded Zeppelin Publishing Company right before the rock band Led Zeppelin became famous. At the time, everyone knew who The Doors were, but Led Zeppelin was not well-known yet. Zeppelin Publishing Company was chartered, only to be shelved and later revived.

Jim Morrison encompassed a baritone voice that was dark and erotic. His poetic lyrics along with his voice, helped skyrocket The Doors to be one of the most talked about, controversial, and theatrical acts of our age.

Their popular hits of the 1960s included Light My Fire, Hello I Love You, Don't You Love Her, and many more. On March 1, 1969 Jim Morrison and The Doors were booked for a concert in refinancing Grove, Florida. Morrison's flight was held over in New Orleans, and he spent gieco auto insurance time in the airport bar, drinking heavily.

By the Time Morrison arrived on stage, he was barely able to stand. In front of the screaming crowd of over 13,000 people, Morrison briefly exposed himself. As highly unlikely it is for Jim Morrison to still be alive, stranger things have happened in our history. It certainly sparks the imagination of this Doors fan, and other music lovers around the world.

So those who have come, responding to those calls, have done Scooby and Scrappy Doo Puppy Hour to make money and be exchange server hosting own boss.

So far so good. We got who we asked for. And there's more good news:

According to a recent poll commissioned by Yahoo, Two-thirds of Americans have entrepreneurial aspirations..." That means millions more prospects for the business.

Now for the bad news.

When asked what their primary motivation was for their entrepreneurial aspirations, they replied that:

1. Money is not their primary motivation -- only 3 percent (half of the 6 percent in 2005) said getting rich was the main reason they wanted to start a business.

2. The main reason for launching a business: Doing work that they really love.

3. The second most popular reason: "To be my own boss."

We got the second one right - "To be my own boss" is the second biggest reason people pursue the entrepreneurial dream.

Now for the two competing number ones.

Recruiters pitch: Give me people who want to make money, especially get rich money.

Folks looking for their own business seek: Give me something I love doing. Finally.

If today's American aspiring entrepreneurs are our potential recruits, and if they are to be taken at their word, how many do you think will join us (versus other business options) if we continue to hold out the big money as the main (and often only) attraction?

Our market says it's looking for something to love first. Be their own boss second. And money - well it's dead last for 97% of the prospects.

The times they are a-changin'...

10 Ways to Get Over Him

You really thought he was the one - the love of your life. Then you wake up one day and the relationship is over. Now what do you do? How do you get over him? How do you put the pieces of your life back together without him?

Great questions! Here are ten ways to get over him:

1. Don't Listen to Other People's Advice - you know what happens when others find out your relationship is over, they try to give you advice. Your intuition will help you make the right choices for you and guide you in the right direction. Pay attention to what your intuition is telling you - this is your compass that will help direct you out of the emotional fog that is surrounding you - so can begin to face the reality of the situation - the relationship is over.

Just think, if you are too busy trying to hold on to something that is no longer there your true love may walk right by and you will never meet him. Wouldn't want that now would you?

6. Ask for Help - if you can't move past the loss of this relationship alone, then ask for help. When I say ask for help I mean help from a non-biased, unattached party - not your best friend or your mother. They can be a great support system when you need a shoulder to cry on or to vent, but be careful they can be part of the reason you having a hard time moving forward. You may want to consider hiring a coach, talking to minister or joining a support group to help you get through the roughest patch.

7. Get Angry - allowing yourself to get angry is a great tool for moving through the pain of a broken relationship. Let's be real, your going to get mad, it is part of the package. So let it rip. With that being said, you need to find a safe outlet for your angry feelings. You can't just go over to your ex's house and punch him out - I know that is what you were thinking. You need to find another outlet for your anger, whether it be running, kickboxing, punching a pillow or writing anger letters. What ever method you choose is up to you - just get it out.

8. Learn to Forgive - yes it is important to find forgiveness in your heart for not only your ex but yourself as well. Forgiveness releases you from the past so you can begin to move forward. Forgive yourself for the mistakes you made in the relationship and learn from them. Forgive him for breaking your heart or the mistakes he made that pushed you away or whatever it is you find in your heart to forgive. Remember forgiveness is really about giving up the belief that you can change the past.
